A customizable climbing machine, the Gregory Alpinisto 50 backpack is a mid-size pack in Gregory’s high-performance range of mountaineering backpacks. The climatic zones in mountains present a huge challenge to hikers. At high altitudes, the temperature falls and precipitation is likely. Sunglasses or goggles and sunscreen are indispensable this high up in the mountains as well as backpack that you can rely on. The Z40 is the largest of Gregory’s ventilated backpacks featuring the lightweight Crossflow DTS suspension system. For a similar sized camping pack that can handle more weight, scale up to the Gregory Z45 backpack.
This pack is a perfect balance between holding a lot of gear while still being small and easy to store and will fit nicely in airplane or bus overhead storage. It carries a ton of gear and is still easy to compress down to a very small size.
A good amount of storage and pockets allow you to easily organize your gear and the ventilated design eradicates sweaty back problems. Whether on a trek through the hot jungle or a day hike in the alpines, the mesh back on this pack keeps you cool, dry and comfortable.
The lid pocket is perfect for valuables because of the secret underside pocket. Toiletries or other random odds and ends can be stored well in the extremely roomy front pocket and the bottom pocket is great for soft goods like sleeping bag and pillow. The rain cover is fantastic and takes up almost no room. Even stuffed to the brim the side pockets can fit a nalgene.
At around 2500 c.i. it can hold a lot of gear and makes for a great two-day pack that can be used for just about anything.
A perfect summer pack that you can also get a few days out of without problems. Take it out on your next trek and witness just how awesome it is for yourself.

Big enough for a summer backpacking trip, the Z45 benefits from Gregory’s proprietary Jetstream internal frame suspension that keeps the sweat off of your back.
Its substantial waistbelt adds lots of comfort and is adjustable to small, medium or large waists. Carries 45lbs without a problem.
Two pockets on the front of the hipbelt make for quick access to trail necessities like compass and whistle or gizmos like cameras and ipods.
Lots of straps and deep water bottle pockets mean 1 litre bottles stay in place and do not topple out. Mesh in the back of the pack is great for storing dirty clothes.

Gregory Makalu Pro 70 Backpack
A tried and tested alpine expedition favorite, the Gregory Makalu Pro 70 backpack is the second largest backpack in Gregory’s state-of-the-art mountaineering backpack range. As of 2011/2012, this range has been discontinued by Gregory but stock is still available for purchase from good camping stores and amazon.com.
The ‘Makalu Pro 70′ is available in 3 sizes to suit the specific torso length of its would-be carrier and ensure that load is effectively transferred to the hips. Across these sizes, pack capacity ranges from 62 to 75 litres.
