Travel backpacks are backpacks that can be converted into holdall or duffle type bags. Generally, this is so that the backpack’s shoulder harness and waistbelt can be secured and protected from being damaged by airport conveyor belts and other places where they may snag.
Some travel backpacks are more like duffle bags, and can be used as a backpack by means of an attachable shoulder harness.
Other features of travel backpacks are:
- Few outside pockets.
- Made out of tough material
- Grab handles
- Sleeping bag compartment that can be zipped open in order to increase main compartment size.
- A strap that allows you to carry the travel pack on your shoulder, like a duffle bag.
- Detachable fanny or hip bag. This is good for carrying first-aid and other emergency items.
- Double stitching in weight bearing places.
